Maternal Care

At the center of our vision for Live2Serve is the establishing of a birthing center to provide maternal health services and reduce risks in childbirth to under-served populations.
Neonatal and infant mortality rates for Haitians are among the highest in the western hemisphere. Approximately 56% of women who die in the Dominican Republic due to complications related to pregnancy or childbirth are Haitian immigrants.
This project is in the fundraising stages to gain real estate where a birthing center will be established. We are currently looking at property where we can build or buy near a local hospital in the San Pedro area. The birthing center will provide sponsored care to primarily Haitian women who have little to no access to prenatal resources. Our goal is to have expecting mothers sponsored through their pregnancy, labor and delivery. Monthly sponsorships will become a key strategy to sustaining the center once established. Our current needs exist in the one-time costs to establish the birthing center.
